Door To Door Garbage Collection Approved In Gurugram, Rs 315 Crore Will Be Spent In Five Years

Door to door garbage collection was approved by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies for five years.

Jagran correspondent, Gurugram. Administrative approval has been given for the door-to-door garbage collection, separation and transportation work of the Municipal Corporation in Gurugram. The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies has issued revised administrative approval and has given green signal to this project for five years. The total estimated cost during this period will be Rs 315.23 crore.

According to the new order, changing the system of four zones proposed earlier, the entire work has now been divided into two clusters. Cluster-1 will include Zone-1 and Zone-2, on which approximately Rs 144.61 crore will be spent. Whereas Zone 3 and Zone 4 have been kept in Cluster 2, the cost of which has been fixed at around Rs 170.62 crore.

The special thing is that the headquarters has given instructions to start the tender process for this work soon and it has been asked to start the tender process by February 1, 2026 in any case. Let us tell you that at present, temporary agencies are doing the work of collecting garbage from houses in the Municipal Corporation for six months, but due to them not having sufficient resources, garbage is not being collected from all the houses.

The period will be five years

The duration of the contract will be five years, which can be extended for two years each based on satisfactory performance. The Municipal Corporation will also have to ensure that necessary vehicles, equipment and human resources are deployed on time. The garbage collection will be completely segregated and will be transported to the processing site as per the Solid Waste Management Rules-2016.

Monitoring will be done through GPS, no fee will be charged

The order said that provisions like cleaning, transportation of garbage in covered vehicles, monthly data reporting, GPS and RFID tracking, separate collection of special waste and elimination of garbage vulnerable points are also included. Along with this, instructions have been given not to charge user fees and to strengthen the complaint redressal mechanism.
