According to the report of the Ground Water Department, in 1984, 35 percent of the water was extracted from under the ground, but in 2023 the figure has increased to 149 percent. That is, the exploitation of ground water has increased by 114 percent.

This water harvesting structure will be built in 20 thousand villages and dhanis. So that the work of water conservation can be increased. It will be monitored by the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.

Light water in 21 dams after the monsoon rains

532 dams were completely dried before the monsoon came. Out of 691 dams in the state, 511 are dried. After the monsoon rains, there is light water in 21 dams. In such a situation, there is currently water in the foothills of 176 dams. At the same time, only four dams are full.

Engineers of the Water Resources Department assess that if the dams get sufficient water, then the ground water level of the surrounding area can also improve. With this, tubewells and wells will also be recharged and crops will be irrigated. The smallest dam in the state is dry. The small dam is 408, out of which 336 are completely empty. Only 69 dams have nominal water.
