Put smart prepaid meters, otherwise electricity will be cut: Engineer

The power company has now started the process of installing smart meters from house to house as part of the campaign to prevent power theft. In this context, Ara’s Electrical Executive Engineer Amarendra Kumar said that with the installation of smart meters, the department as well as consumers will also have many benefits. This will relieve the consumer from the hassle of electricity bill. Consumers will be able to spend as much electricity as they recharge in these meters recharged like mobiles. When consumers do not recharge smart meters, they can consume electricity for two days. Even after not recharging, the power will automatically be cut on the third day between 10 am and 1 o’clock in the morning. No electricity will be deducted on the prescribed holiday and Sunday, nor will electricity go by the company at night. The tariff of smart prepaid meter and normal meter is the same. In the smart meter, there will be an interest of 7.25 percent if there is more than Rs 2000 balance for a period of six months or more. A special discount of 2 percent will be given on recharge before the balance is over. The Electrical Executive Engineer said that for a period of three to six months, there will also be an interest of 7% for more than Rs 2000 balance. An additional discount of 1% on online recharge and 6.75% interest will be available for more than Rs 2000 balance for three months. Consumers’ cooperation is very important in installing smart meters. The power of consumers who do not cooperate in this will be cut off.
