Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The contract workers of National Health Mission working in Bhagalpur district have reached the verge of starvation these days. They have not received salaries for the last three months, due to which shopkeepers have stopped giving loans and children's education is also being affected. These workers have to follow the new procedure for payment, but despite training, salaries are not being paid.
Employees say that the third month is about to pass, but no initiative has been taken for salary. In this situation, arranging food has also become difficult. There is no money to buy medicine when one is sick at home.
Maternity payment due from March 2025
Here, the maternity payment after delivery in the hospital is pending since March 2025, due to which women and their families are creating ruckus in the hospital. Payment of courier workers who assisted in vaccination is also pending. The vehicle has not been paid under the National Child Health Programme.
Payment of workers engaged in leprosy related programs is also on hold. Under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, the expenses for breakfast given to pregnant women have also not been paid.
Apart from this, electricity, water and hospital maintenance expenses have also not been paid. Internet is required for registration in OPD, but there is difficulty in filling the net.
