Gross negligence in hospital projects.
State Bureau, New Delhi. Once again a firm has been criticized for delaying Delhi government's hospital construction projects. The company involved in hospital projects has been banned for two years and a fine of Rs 50 lakh, Rs 30 thousand has also been imposed.
The government has suffered a loss of several crores in hospital projects due to delays by this firm. The department alleges that the firm did not submit the required drawing, design and statutory compliance documents within the stipulated time limit. Due to which projects were delayed.
Due to the negligence of the company, the government lost several crores
PWD had entrusted the overall consultancy work to the private firm Arco Associates Pvt Ltd for the ICU hospital projects at Shalimar Bagh Hospital, Kirari Hospital, Chacha Nehru Children's Hospital at Geeta Colony and GTB Hospital at Dilshad Garden. This included planning, design, drawings, cost estimation, statutory approvals and construction supervision. But due to the negligence of the company, the government has lost several crores.
The firm did not provide the calculations despite repeated requests.
In the order issued by PWD, it has been said that the firm did not provide the necessary documents related to structural design like design calculation, DBR, structural model and load calculation despite repeated requests. Whereas it was stated in the terms and conditions of the contractor company that the contractor would not neglect its responsibilities and would not delay the coordinated drawing and would not cause the schedule and Council financial loss to be affected.
In such a situation, it is negligence and contractual default on the part of the contractor company. The firm has failed to give a satisfactory explanation even though the firm has been given full time to respond by sending a notice.
