Digital Desk, New Delhi. Pakistan has once again suffered a major setback at the international level. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has canceled the important airport management deal with Pakistan.
This decision has come at a time when UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had visited India a few days ago. Recently Shahbaz Sharif joined the Board of Peace and met Donald Trump. After that, now this decision is a big blow for Pakistan.
Interest lost: UAE's clear message
According to a Times of India report, the UAE refused to take the agreement forward citing Pakistan's loss of interest in the airport project. It is being told that this deal related to the operation and development of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports was under discussion for a long time, but now it has been completely put on hold.
Equation changed after India tour
Experts believe that after the recent visit of the UAE President to India, a major change has been seen in regional diplomacy. Strategic, economic and infrastructure cooperation between India and UAE is continuously strengthening, the impact of which is clearly visible on Pakistan.
Pakistan's weakening global hold
Pakistan is already struggling on the foreign investment front due to economic crisis, political instability and security concerns. The withdrawal of a close ally country like UAE is being considered a big blow for Pakistan.
India-UAE relations get new strength
UAE is a major strategic partner of India. Relations between the two countries are at new heights in areas like energy, infrastructure, defense and investment. Experts say that India can get direct benefits from this in the coming time.
Pakistan's international credibility seems to be further weakened due to the cancellation of the airport deal. According to analysts, if the situation does not improve then other foreign investors may also stay away from Pakistan.
