Digital Desk, New Delhi. India and the European Union are supporting each other amid US tariff threats. A few days before her arrival in India, European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on Wednesday, January 21, talked about a significant change in relations between the two strategic partners. "In this more dangerous world, we both benefit from working together," Kallas said.
This time, the top leadership of the European Union may attend the Republic Day 2026 celebrations as the chief guest. The 16th EU-India Summit is scheduled to be held after the January 26 event. Many big deals are expected in this summit.
Growing friendship between India and EU
Addressing the European Parliament, Kaja Kallas said, 'India is becoming increasingly important for the economic strength of Europe' and indicated that the EU is ready to work with New Delhi on a powerful new agenda on trade, security, technology and people-to-people ties.
Kallas has described the meeting between EU and India as very important. Kallas said, the EU and India are coming closer to each other at a time when the rules-based international order is under stress due to wars, pressure and economic division.
Kallas further said, 'In today's time, the two big democracies cannot afford to hesitate in any way. We have a responsibility to uphold international law, the UN Charter and an effective multilateral system for the 21st century.
Three special deals between India and EU
There can be a deal between India and the European Union on three big things. These include matters ranging from trade agreements to defence.
