Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asked five questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making clear his intention not to soften his stance against the interim trade deal with America.

The Congress leader also alleged that in the name of this trade deal, the farmers of the country are being betrayed. Rahul Gandhi said on X Post, "I want to ask some easy questions to the Prime Minister."

Rahul Gandhi's five questions to PM

What exactly does it mean to import the first DDG? Does this mean Indian cattle will be fed distillers grains made from GM American corn? “Wouldn’t this effectively make our milk products dependent on the American agricultural industry?”

Raising another question, he said that if we allow the import of GM soya oil, then what will happen to our soya farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and across the country? How will they withstand another price shock?

The Congress leader asked the PM the third question, what is included when you say "additional products"? Is this an indication of pressure to open up pulses and other crops to US imports over time?

What does removing non-trade barriers mean?

Rahul Gandhi raised the fourth question, asking what does the removal of “non-trade-barriers” mean? Will India be pressured in future to loosen its stance on GM crops, weaken procurement or reduce MSP and bonuses?

The fifth question raised was that once this door has opened, how will we stop it from opening further every year? Will this be prevented, or will more crops gradually be included in the deal each time?

Leader of opposition said that farmers should get clarification on all this. This is not just about today. It is also a matter of the future and whether we are allowing any other country to have a long-term hold on India's agriculture industry.
