A Plan Will Be Made For Year-round Water Availability For Nuclear Power Plants In Bihar, Survey Of Sites In These Districts Has Been Done.

State Bureau, Patna. A plan will be made at the power company level to ensure that the proposed nuclear power plant in Bihar has water availability throughout the year. Regarding water arrangements, a meeting was organized on Friday under the chairmanship of Chairman cum Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, Manoj Kumar Singh.

Managing Director of Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited, Mahendra Kumar, senior officials of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and (NTPC), representatives of Water Resources Department and other senior officials were present in the meeting.

It was decided to plan for year round water availability and water source infrastructure for nuclear power plants. Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) has inspected the sites and consulted with the Water Resources Department (Flood Control and Water Discharge, Irrigation Generation). Other options are being evaluated at the departmental level.

Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said the state government will provide all possible support to the project and ensure that the nuclear power plant has assured water supply throughout the year and a technically suitable site.

The objective of the Government of Bihar is to ensure safe and environmentally balanced energy production in the state. Preliminary survey on potential sites for the nuclear power plant project has been completed. The survey has been conducted in Shambhuganj and Bhitiya areas of Banka district.

Apart from this, preliminary survey was conducted in Rajauli and Siwan district of Nawada district. During the meeting, the team of NPCIL and NTPC gave a brief overview of the potential sites for the project. Preliminary survey and land assessment work is also in progress in Siwan district.
