Samvad Sutra, Jagran Barsana. Before the proposed Barsana Lathmaar Holi of February 25, the administration carried out a big encroachment removal campaign late on Friday night and took bulldozer action. To free the area of about two kilometers from encroachment, the JCB kept running till late night and the debris was removed with tractor-trolleys.

Under the leadership of SDM Govardhan Prajakta Tripathi, in the presence of CO Govardhan Anil Kumar Singh, Executive Officer Dr. Kalpana Bajpai and police station in-charge Ashwani Kumar, action was taken in Sudama Chowk, Purana Adda, Bagh Mohalla, Peeli Kothi Tiraha, New Bus Stand and Barsana Dehat.

Platforms emerging from drains, extended balconies of shops, walls, showcases and boundary walls were demolished. Raw encroachments were confiscated, while permanent structures were demolished. Nagar Panchayat had earlier issued a notice and given instructions to remove the encroachment, but due to non-compliance, the administration showed strictness.

One JCB and four tractor-trolleys were deployed to remove the debris. Last year, during Lathmar Holi, the problem of crowd and jam came to the fore. Keeping this in view, this time a strategy has been adopted to remove encroachment from the roots to keep the road wide and accessible.

SDM Prajakta Tripathi clarified that the campaign will continue till February 20, so that the entire area can be made organized and safe before Holi.
