America imposed sanctions on two ICC judges (Trump photo with Netanyahu - Reuters)
Reuters, Washington. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that his country has imposed sanctions on two judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for targeting Israel. Now the number of such senior judges in America's sanctions list has increased to 11.
Here, the ICC has termed the US ban on two of its judges related to the Israel case as an attack on the independence of the court. She said that when judicial officers are threatened, the international legal order is at risk.
"Today I am nominating two ICC judges, Gocha Lordkipanidze of Georgia and Erdenbalsuren Damdin of Mongolia, under Executive Order 14023," Rubio said in a statement.
He mentioned this in relation to Trump's order to ban ICC, which he had signed last February. "These individuals are directly involved in efforts to investigate, arrest, or prosecute Israeli citizens without Israel's consent," Rubio said.
