Two youths riding a motorcycle were seriously injured in a collision with a bike laden with illegal coal on Saturday morning near Puna Mahato Memorial High School located at Mahuda Mod. The accident occurred when several bikes laden with coal were going from Madhuban police station area towards Bokaro. While overtaking, a bike hit another motorcycle coming from the front. After the collision, both the motorcyclists fell on the road and were seriously injured. With the help of local people, both the injured were sent to the hospital through ambulance. The driver of the bike laden with coal also fell in the accident, but after some time his companions picked him up and fled from the spot. The injured have been identified as Budhan Harijan and Manilal. Budhan Harijan was going to his home Bansjoda from Mahuda Mod, while Manilal is working as APM in BCCL and was going from Jodhadih for Block-One duty. On receiving the information, the police of Mahuda police station reached the spot and sent both the injured to the hospital. Police have seized the accident bike. According to local people, the business of coal theft is flourishing rapidly in Dhanbad area these days. Earlier, bicycles and normal bikes were used to transport stolen coal, but now modified bikes and three-wheeler scooters (scooties made for the disabled) are being used for this.

These coal laden vehicles are driven on the roads at high speed, due to which accidents are happening every day. Local people have demanded strict action from the police administration against illegal coal transportation, so that road accidents can be stopped.
