Under the awareness campaign, an awareness campaign was conducted among the students in DAV Malighat on Friday. Medicine expert, former Additional Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chandrashekhar Prasad said that antibiotics are easily available without prescription. This should be stopped.

Widespread awareness is necessary to prevent taking medicines without advice. Dainik Jagran's initiative is better. Dr. Chandrashekhar Prasad said that due to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infections become difficult to treat, which prolongs the duration of the disease and increases the risk of mortality.

Antibiotics should never be used without medical advice. It is mandatory to complete the entire course prescribed by a registered medical practitioner. Drug sellers should be stopped from selling medicines without prescription and strict laws should be implemented on this. Besides, doctors also need to be sensitized from time to time about judicious use of antibiotics.

He said that infection can be prevented by adopting cleanliness, hygiene and personal hygiene. This eliminates the need for antimicrobials.
