In this regard, Archana Kumari, resident of Hario village of Bihpur police station area of Navagachia area of Bhagalpur, has lodged a written complaint in the women's police station Navagachia.
The victim told in the application that she was married in the year 2021 to Sumit Kumar, father Naresh Singh, resident of Sripur (Navagachhiya police station). At the time of marriage, about Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, jewelery and furniture was donated by her maternal side. Apart from this, about five lakh rupees were spent on the wedding ceremony, for which his father had to take a loan.
It is alleged that after marriage, her husband Sumit Kumar, mother-in-law Geeta Devi, father-in-law Naresh Singh and brother-in-law Amit Kumar started harassing her physically and mentally, demanding additional dowry of Rs 5 lakh. According to the victim, she was repeatedly pressurized to bring money from her maternal home and when she refused, she was abused and beaten. Many times he was locked in a room and tortured.
Archana Kumari has also alleged that on February 13, 2026, her husband remarried and brought another woman home. After this, a conspiracy is being hatched to throw him and his son out of the house. The complaint also states that Naresh Singh's brother Devendra Singh came home, showed a pistol and threatened to kill him and leave the house.
Mahila Police Station President said that after receiving the application, investigation into the matter has been started. Police say that the veracity of all the allegations will be investigated and legal action will be taken. People are being interrogated. Investigation is being done on many points.
