State Bureau, Dehradun. Khel Mahakumbh will be organized in a new format this year under the name of Chief Minister Champions Trophy 2025-26 and it is going to start from December 23. Sports Minister Rekha Arya gave this information during a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that this competition will be organized in four stages at Nyaya Panchayat, Assembly, Parliamentary constituency and state level.
A total of 26 sports events will be organized during the competition, in which traditional sports have also been given a place this time. The championship will be concluded on January 28 and on this day, along with the Chief Minister Champions Trophy, an amount of ₹ 5 lakh will also be given to the winner. The champion will be decided by the sum of the points awarded based on the medals won by them.
Apart from this, a cash prize of ₹ 2 lakh will be given to the team that wins the MP Trophy and ₹ 1 lakh to the team that wins the Assembly Trophy. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that for breaking the national record, an additional prize money of ₹ 1 lakh will be given to the player.
The Sports Minister said that registrations for the championship were started from October 14, so far more than 1 lakh 10 thousand players have registered themselves. He informed that online registrations will remain open till December 22.
Separate competition for disabled players
Along with this, separate competitions for athletics, badminton and swimming will be organized for the disabled players of the state. The Sports Minister said that registrations for this category have also been started.
No player should be without shoes or tracksuit
On Thursday, Sports Minister Rekha Arya held a video conferencing regarding this event with the District Magistrates of all the districts at the NIC office located in the Secretariat. He directed all the District Magistrates to ensure that all the players participating in trials and games have shoes and tracksuits. He also directed to make adequate arrangements to protect the players from cold, deploy health department team at every sports venue, make the players stay at night if necessary and make arrangements for food etc.
