Danger to life due to transformers kept at low height (Photo: Jagran)
Jagran correspondent, Panipat. Transformers placed at low heights at various places in the city are becoming a challenge to the safety of the general public. From colonies to densely populated areas, a web of wires is spread in the open at many places. Due to which an accident can happen at any time.
The biggest problem occurs during the rainy season, in case of waterlogging, the possibility of electrocution increases, due to which the lives of pedestrians, children and elderly people are put at risk. In many areas, transformers are adjacent to the walls of houses and electric wires are passing very close to rooftops and balconies. People demand that all transformers should be installed on safe and elevated platforms so that no accidents happen. However, many accidents have occurred due to transformers placed at low heights. In many areas of the city including Sanauli Road, Ward-11, Kila area, Sukhdev Nagar, transformers have been installed on the roadside, in the middle of the streets or adjacent to the walls of the houses. At many places, people are facing problems due to the network of electrical wires on the transformer. Despite this, the Electricity Corporation is not taking concrete steps towards shifting these transformers to higher platforms or installing security cordons. Four transformers have been installed together along the wall of a building in Ganesh Nagar of Sanauli Road area. On which there is a network of wires. Coming out from here is not without danger. The transformers are so low that anyone's hand can easily reach them. At the same time, any animal can also get electrocuted while passing near it. Pedestrians as well as vehicles pass through here throughout the day.
The transformers installed for power supply in Ward 11 of the city are becoming a serious threat to the people. Here, transformers are lying open at many places and there is a web of wires around them. Due to the transformer being very low to the ground, there is a danger of accident to the pedestrians. The residents of the colony informed the concerned authorities and the Electricity Corporation about this problem several times, but till now no permanent solution has been found. Many transformers installed in Bishan Swaroop Colony, the area behind the old bus stand, are in a dilapidated condition. These are just above the ground, there is no telling when and what accident might happen here. Hundreds of people pass by these transformers every day. The transformers kept here are adjacent to each other. SE Dharam Suhag of the Electricity Corporation of Panipat said that the Electricity Corporation has got the transformers replaced at many places, where such situation was there, proper arrangements were made after investigation. Where there is still a problem, it will be investigated and resolved.
