People will be taught the method of rescue through awareness chariots

Earthquake Safety Fortnight: With the aim of reducing the damage caused by natural disasters like earthquakes and making the general public alert, the district administration has started a comprehensive awareness campaign. In this series, on Thursday, District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan SM flagged off earthquake safety awareness chariots.
Earthquake Safety Fortnight will run from 15 to 28 January
Earthquake Safety Fortnight is being celebrated by the district administration from January 15 to January 28. During this period, people will be given information about measures to stay safe during earthquakes through various programs at the district, sub-division and block level.
There will be special emphasis on what to do and what not to do.
The DM directed the officials to provide information to the common people in simple language about what to do and what not to do in case of an earthquake. The objective is to reduce panic during disasters and minimize loss of life and property.
Mock drill and training will increase preparation
Training workshops and mock drills will be organized during the Earthquake Safety Fortnight. Through these exercises, people will be taught how to respond properly in case of emergency, identify safe places and first aid methods.
Messages from street plays and publicity vehicles
To make the awareness campaign effective, street plays, e-rickshaw based publicity vehicles, pamphlets and banners are being used. Through these mediums, earthquake prevention messages will be sent to the block level.
Initiative of BSDMA and Disaster Management Department
This Earthquake Safety Fortnight is being jointly organized by Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) and Disaster Management Department. Both the organizations will jointly provide information about disaster risk reduction to the people through public relations activities.
SDRF-NDRF will perform rescue
Under the campaign, SDRF and NDRF teams will demonstrate emergency response and rescue operations through mock drills. This will help people understand how relief and rescue operations are carried out after an earthquake.
Active participation of various departments
DM has directed that active participation of all concerned line departments including education, health, fire should be ensured in the Earthquake Safety Fortnight. This will make the campaign comprehensive and effective.
Appeal for public participation
The District Magistrate has appealed to the common people to actively participate in the programs organized under the Earthquake Safety Fortnight. Awareness and correct information is the biggest protection in times of disaster.
