Six arrested involved in drugs smuggling racket.
Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. Busting an organized racket of smuggling of smack and hybrid drugs, ANTF Lucknow and Gida police station arrested six accused on Monday morning. After registering a case under the NDPS Act, everyone was presented in the court in the afternoon, from where they were sent to jail. According to the police, the estimated value of the recovered narcotics is around Rs 2 crore 35 lakh.
Police had received information from an informer that some people were going to pass through Gida area carrying huge quantity of drugs. Based on the information, a joint team of ANTF Lucknow and GIDA police increased surveillance in the area.
In Nausadh, two four-wheelers were marked and cordoned off. Six people traveling in the vehicles were stopped on the spot. During the search, 770 grams of illegal organic/hydroponic beads (Ocean Green) and 1.025 kg of smack/heroin, eight Android mobile phones and Rs 1 lakh in cash were recovered from the possession of the accused.
Police have seized both the four-wheelers used in drug smuggling. Preliminary inquiry has revealed that there was a preparation to prepare the recovered narcotics in small packets and supply them in the city and surrounding areas.
According to police officials, Ocean Green is a hybrid type of ganja class drug prepared through hydroponic technology, which has more addictive potential than normal ganja. Whereas smack or heroin is a very dangerous intoxicant, which becomes addictive rapidly and its consumption poses a threat to life.
The arrested accused include Sahil alias Shamshad Ahmed of Khajni, Shyam Mohan Yadav, resident of Mishrauli of Gola Bazar, Santosh Pandey, resident of Niba, Ekauna of Deoria district, Jitendra Gupta, resident of Gajpur of Gagaha, Rahul Dubey, resident of Subhash Nagar Surajkund of Tiwaripur and Manoj Chaurasia, resident of Malav, Belipar.
SP North Gyanendra Kumar said that investigation is going on regarding the supply chain of drugs, its source and the role of other people involved in the network. Action will also be taken against people associated with the gang.
