A criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, who was absconding in the case of brutal murder of her husband due to love affair, was finally caught in a police encounter. Meerut resident Wasim alias Khatmal, who murdered her husband along with his girlfriend, was injured by bullets in both his legs in a police encounter late on Sunday night. Wasim was missing after coming out on parole and Delhi Police was also searching for him.
Husband was murdered along with his girlfriend, injured in encounter
CO Sadar Dr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that a checking campaign was being conducted on Gopali Marg between village Khudda and Khoja Nangla on Sunday night. Meanwhile, a bike was seen coming from Khoja Nangla. When the police signaled the bike riders to stop, they started firing at the police.
In retaliation, the police also opened fire, in which Wasim alias Khatmal got injured by the bullet. His companion Imran, a resident of Lisadigate, tried to run away from the spot, but the police surrounded him and caught him. Police have recovered a bike, a pistol, live cartridges and spent cartridges from their possession. Injured Wasim has been admitted to the district hospital.
The murder accused, who was absconding on parole, was also wanted from Delhi.
CO Sadar Ravi Shankar said that on April 4, 2025, Wasim alias Khatmal, along with his girlfriend Sumayla, had murdered her husband Salman, resident of Ahmednagar, Police Station Lisadi Gate, Meerut. Both of them took Salman to the forest of village Bijopura of Chhapar police station area near the highway and shot him. Wasim was absconding after the incident and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on him.
Wasim's nephew was arrested by the police
The police had already started unraveling the layers of this murder case. Wasim's nephew Saqib was arrested in an injured condition in an encounter during checking near village Bagowali intersection on the night of 30 May 2025. There was a reward of Rs 10,000 on him. Cousin brother Sahil alias Aman was also caught along with him. After this, the police also arrested Wasim's sister and brother-in-law.
Police arrested all six accused
Now with the arrest of the main accused Wasim alias Khatmal, the police have arrested all the six accused involved in the murder of his girlfriend's husband. Police say that further legal action is being completed and a charge sheet will be filed in the case.
