Taking major action in the case of suspicious death of married Sarita Prakash alias Subu in Ward No. 17 Koeri Patti of Sonpur Municipal Council area, Saran Police has arrested Sub-Inspector (SI) Santosh Kumar Rajak posted at Panapur police station of Muzaffarpur district.
In this case, there is an allegation of murder for dowry and throwing the dead body in front of her maternal home. The police sent the accused inspector to jail after interrogation.
Confirming the arrest, Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar said that many important evidences have emerged in the investigation of the case. Hariharnath police station incharge Vimlesh Kumar Singh said that in a joint action by the SIT and the local police, the accused was taken into custody and interrogated, after which he was sent to judicial custody.
The accused had left after throwing the dead body at the deceased's maternal home.
The incident took place on the morning of 16 January. Sarita's body was found right near the front door of her maternal house. According to the family members, there were deep marks of pressure on the neck of the deceased, due to which suspicion of murder by strangulation was raised. The family alleges that Sarita was tortured for dowry and eventually murdered.
CCTV footage revealed the secret, Scorpio arrived at 12:38 pm
The investigation in the case got a decisive direction when the footage of the CCTV camera installed in the maternal house of the deceased came to light. According to the footage, at 12.38 am a black Scorpio vehicle stopped in front of the maternal home.
The engine of the vehicle remained running and the driver remained sitting in the vehicle. Meanwhile, a person is seen coming down and keeping the dead body of the woman on the roadside.
After this the person quickly sits in the vehicle and the Scorpio flees from the spot. Local people had alleged at that time that the vehicle had a police sticker on it, which further deepened the suspicion.
Harassment started after marriage, allegations of dowry murder
According to family members, Sarita Prakash was married to Satyendra Kumar of Kartahan police station area of Vaishali district on May 9, 2025. Shortly after the marriage, Sarita started being harassed for dowry.
It is alleged that after this torture, she was murdered and the accused fled after throwing the body in front of her parents' house.
Three accused arrested, raid conducted in search of husband
According to the police, so far one primary and two non-primary accused have been arrested in this case. The deceased's husband Satyendra Kumar is said to be still absconding. The police are continuously conducting raids to arrest him.
Police officials say that the role of other suspects in the case is also being investigated. Further action has been intensified on the basis of CCTV footage, recovery and interrogation.
