Jagran News Network, Jammu. Jammu's Fast Track Court has sentenced a Maulvi guilty of raping a seven-year-old girl to nine years of rigorous imprisonment. The court considered the case to be heinous and imposed rigorous imprisonment on the Maulvi along with a fine of Rs 50,000.
From the fine amount, Rs 25 thousand was given as compensation to the girl, while instructions were given to deposit Rs 25 thousand in the government treasury. In case of non-payment of fine, Maulvi will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months. After sentencing, the court sent the Maulvi to Ambphala jail in Jammu. According to the case, the girl used to go to Maulvi Mohammad Shah Nawaz for religious education in an area under Nagrota police station.
Took the seven year old girl into the room
Maulvi used to teach Quran to children. It is alleged that on March 12, 2018, the Maulvi sent other children home that day, but stopped the seven-year-old girl and took her to a room, where he raped her. The matter came to light when the girl reached home and complained of pain.
When the girl gave this information to her mother, she took her to the police station and a case of rape was registered against the Maulvi. The court said that this is a serious matter for the society and there is a provision for strict punishment.
