Major fire due to short circuit

Samvad Sutra, Puraini (Madhepura). Six shops were burnt to ashes in a fire caused by an electrical short circuit on Thursday midnight at the mouth of the road leading from Shiv Mandir Chowk to Devidas Tola in Marwari Mohalla in Puraini main market. Another shop also suffered extensive damage. Loss worth lakhs is being reported in this fire incident.

According to local people, at midnight on Thursday, a DJ passing through the said route raised an alarm after seeing a shop on fire. People sleeping nearby woke up after hearing the noise.

Fear of short circuit and cylinder explosion

By the time the villagers could understand anything, the fire had engulfed many other shops as well. The villagers were unable to muster the courage to extinguish the fire due to fear of short circuit and cylinder explosion. The situation was so dire that the villagers did not find it appropriate to stay there, let alone extinguish the fire.

Despite this, some villagers were successful in taking out the gas cylinders kept in a shop. Due to which a major accident was averted. As soon as information about the incident was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot and after much effort the fire was extinguished.

Damage more than Rs 10 lakh

Meanwhile, Chandan Sah's electronic and mobile shop, Rajesh Thakur's salon shop, Babulal Sah's tea-snack shop, Ramesh Kumar's electrical electronic and mobile shop, Pramod Mehta's bicycle shop and Bijendra Ram's shop were completely burnt to ashes. Suraj Sah's sweet shop also suffered extensive damage.

The victimized shop operators told that many mobiles, chargers, batteries, bicycles, furniture, utensils, wooden dashboards of various companies kept in the shop along with essential documents and valuables were burnt to ashes. The victimized shopkeepers said that there was a loss of more than Rs 10 lakh in the fire incident.

After receiving information about the incident, Circle Officer Vidyanand Jha reached the spot on Friday morning and took stock of the situation. He distributed polythene seats among the affected shopkeepers. The Circle Officer said that the application has not been received yet. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the application.
