Jagran correspondent, Gurugram. The Municipal Corporation is taking strict action against those who spread pollution. According to corporation officials, so far in January, a total of 705 challans have been issued by various teams of the Municipal Corporation against activities that increase smoke and dust pollution. A fine of Rs 9.26 lakh has been collected through these challans.
Corporation teams are deployed in the field and are taking action against violations of pollution related rules. The corporation is taking strict action against other violations including burning of fire in the open, throwing garbage and debris in public places, ignoring environmental rules during construction and demolition activities.
Water sprinkling on roads to control dust
In order to reduce dust pollution, the Municipal Corporation is regularly sprinkling treated water from the sewerage treatment plant on roads and trees. For this, ten vehicle mounted sprinklers and anti smog gun vehicles are working on various roads. Apart from this, water is also being sprayed in different areas of the city through tankers.
Cleaning is being done with mechanized machines at night
To keep the main roads of the city free from dust, 18 mechanized sweeping machines are being operated by the Municipal Corporation at night, so that there is no inconvenience to the traffic and citizens during the day. Along with this, the sanitation teams of the corporation are also regularly doing the work of removing dust and soil from the main roads.
Municipal Corporation Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said that controlling air pollution in the city is the corporation's top priority. All instructions are being strictly followed under the Graded Response Action Plan. Similar strict action will continue against those who violate the rules, so that a clean and safe environment can be provided to the citizens.
