State Bureau, Patna. In a major action, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Kamalakant Verma alias Uncleji, associated with an arms smuggling gang in North India.

He is a resident of Patna. The links of this gang are spread all over North India. This is the 11th arrest in the interstate arms and ammunition smuggling case.

According to NIA, the arrested Kamal Kant played a major role in purchasing illegal arms and ammunition from Haryana and sending it to Bihar and other states through Uttar Pradesh.

Raids were conducted at 23 places

On December 4 this month, NIA had raided 23 places in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana including Nalanda, Sheikhpura and Patna in Bihar regarding this interstate arms smuggling gang.

During this time, NIA had arrested Shashi Prakash from Patna, Ravi Ranjan Singh from Sheikhpura and Vijay Kalra and Kush Kalra from Kurukshetra. About Rs 1 crore in cash and arms and ammunition of various bores were also recovered in the raid.

On the basis of the input received during this raid and arrest, NIA has arrested Kamal Kant of Patna. This case is related to Bihar, when in June-July this year, the local police had recovered many illegal weapons and a large number of cartridges.

After this Rajendra Prasad, Kumar Abhijeet, Shatrughan Sharma and Vishal Kumar were arrested. On the instructions of the Home Ministry, NIA took over the investigation of this case in August 2025, the investigation is ongoing.

Order to remand a member of interstate arms smuggling gang

Jagran correspondent, Patna. In the case of interstate network of illegal arms and cartridges smuggling, the court of NIA Special Judge Abhijeet Kumar has ordered the Superintendent of Jail to hand over the accused and jailed Uncle Ji alias Kamalkant on police remand for eight days for questioning.

NIA officials had applied in the court in this regard. The court has given this order after hearing. NIA arrested the accused from Auraiya area of ​​Uttar Pradesh and presented him in the court on Tuesday.

The court took the accused into judicial custody and sent him to jail. NIA had formed its separate teams and raided about 22 locations in Bihar, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Claimed to have recovered illegal cartridges and weapons on a large scale and exposed the interstate network.
