Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. The SIT has frozen five properties worth Rs 9.50 crore in the name of jailed codeine syrup selling gang leader Vinod Aggarwal, his wife Savita and son Shivam.
Apart from this, an Innova Crysta car worth Rs 23 lakh and Rs 42 lakh found in six bank accounts here were also frozen.
These five properties of the kingpin and his family were also frozen by the Varanasi Police on February 12, whose value was shown to be Rs 4.80 crore, while the police there had also frozen Rs 37,42,995 found in the bank account in the name of Vinod's firm.
SIT Inspector Kamalapati Yadav says that the market price is considered to be double the circle rate, hence the price of properties is considered to have increased. SIT is now raiding possible places in search of Shivam.
DCP Crime Shravan Kumar Singh said that in the case of buying and selling of codeine syrup and intoxicating drugs belonging to NDPS category under the guise of medicines, the Food Safety and Drug Administration had conducted a raid and recovered one lakh vials.
Investigation also revealed that about 20 lakh vials were sold, out of which the police have recovered 11.50 lakh vials.
The leader of this gang is Vinod Aggarwal, resident of Patkapur, Feelkhana. He was arrested on January 25 from Dadu ki Kothi Azad Chowk in Narnaul in Mahendragarh district of Haryana and sent to jail on January 26. In two years, he purchased goods from eight firms from the states of UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh.
Properties worth about Rs 9.50 crore of Vinod Aggarwal, his wife Savita and son Shivam were identified, which include Vinod's two plots in Gopal Vihar of Civil Lines, a property in Emerald Gulistan in Jajmau, while a building on Birhana Road in his wife's name, a plot in Rampur, Daheli Sujanpur in Shivam's name. All five assets were frozen.
ADCP Crime Anjali Vishwakarma told that Vinod's son Shivam is absconding. Teams are engaged in search of him. He will be arrested soon.
