Three peacocks and many birds died due to plastic cord in Faridkot. symbolic picture
Jagran correspondent, Faridkot. This time, excessive use of plastic strings in kite flying on the occasion of spring has not only caused harm to humans, but has also become a serious threat to birds. This situation has made it clear that the administration has failed this time to stop the sale of plastic doors. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has criticized the failure of the government and administration on this issue.
Most people were using plastic cords on a spring day this year, resulting in injuries to more than six people and the death of three peacocks as well as several other birds in the city. Apart from this, plastic strings hanging on trees are also proving fatal for birds due to being thrown and cut by kites.
Convener Shankar Sharma of Masoom Parvaaz, an organization working for the protection of birds, said that on the day of spring, he had received information about the death of three peacocks and several pigeons. Along with this, a large number of injured birds also reached him. He said that the dead peacocks included a female peacock and a baby peacock. He expressed concern that if even big peacocks start dying in this manner, their numbers may decline. Although the administration claimed that they had taken strict action, yet the sale and use of plastic doors continued.
Jagjit Singh Dallewal, national convenor of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and state president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur), said in a press statement that the government every year states that plastic door is extremely dangerous for human life and animals, hence it is strictly banned. He raised the question that if in fact the government has completely banned it, then how is this plastic door coming from China? This is a big question.
He further said that if this bloody string is not coming from China and is being made in the country itself, then why is the government not taking any strict action against those making it? Dallewal said that due to this bloody thread, children and animals are becoming victims of it every day, due to which precious lives are being lost.
He said that wherever any accident occurs due to this bloody thread, the Deputy Commissioner of that district and the concerned police station in-charge are also responsible for it, because due to the failure of the administration, this thread is spreading death in the air. Due to this, there is always danger for the pedestrians walking on the roads, due to which many accidents are taking place.
He said that not only the people selling plastic doors but also those flying kites from China doors are responsible for these murders and tragic incidents. Therefore, whether the kite flyer is big or small, an FIR should be registered against him also.
