Sales of Bihar's rice, makhana and vegetables will increase in Oman
Jagran correspondent, Patna. The impact of the recent commercial agreement with Oman is expected to be far-reaching on Bihar's economy and local products. With this agreement, the products related to agriculture, handicrafts and food processing of Bihar will get direct access to the market of Gulf countries, which will give new impetus to exports and will also increase employment opportunities.
President of Bihar Industries Association (BIA) Ramlal Khaitan said that Oman is an important trading center in the Gulf countries. There is good demand for traditional and agriculture based products of Bihar. Especially the export prospects of rice, makhana, honey, spices, vegetables, fruits, handloom and handicraft products have strengthened. This will directly benefit local farmers, artisans and small entrepreneurs.
Will be better for handicrafts, makhana etc.
President of Bihar State Professional Association, Ajay Gupta said that this agreement can prove to be a game changer for the Makhana industry of Bihar. Makhana is already popular as a health product in the Gulf countries. There is a possibility of significant increase in its exports due to easy access to other Gulf countries through Oman. Similarly, Bhagalpuri silk, Madhubani painting and cotton based textiles are also expected to get international recognition.
Food processing sector will get more benefits
CII Bihar President Gaurav Sah said that this agreement will also give a boost to the food processing industry. Food processing units established by Bihar government will now get the opportunity to produce as per the demand of the international market. This is likely to increase investment in cold storage, packaging and logistics sectors in the state.
He said that investors from Oman are also showing interest in investing in agro-based industries, warehousing and logistics sectors in Bihar. If this investment comes to fruition, it will strengthen the industrial structure in the state and create new employment opportunities for the youth.
Global identity will be strengthened
Economic analysts say that this agreement is not limited to trade only, but it will also help in increasing the brand value of Bihar's products. By emphasizing on quality, packaging and marketing as per international standards, Bihar's products will be able to make their mark in global competition.
Former BIA General Secretary CA Ashish Rohatgi said that this commercial agreement with Oman can open a new door of economic development for Bihar. If the government and industry together make proper use of this opportunity, Bihar can register a strong presence in the export sector in the coming years.
