Digital Desk, New Delhi. Investigative agencies have sought help from Interpol to arrest Dr. Muzaffar Rather, who is associated with the white-collar terrorist network and was among the conspirators of the Red Fort blast. Very soon a Red Corner Notice may be issued against Rather.
Dr. Rather, a pediatrician by profession, is accused of providing funding from Afghanistan for the Red Fort terrorist attack on November 10 and other support to the people involved in the attack. Officials said interrogation of white-collar terrorists revealed that Rather helped raise funds for the terrorist module and contributed around Rs six lakh.
Dr. Muzaffar, originally from South Kashmir, is the brother of Dr. Adeel Rather who was caught from Saharanpur and it is believed that he is currently hiding somewhere in Afghanistan. The NIA court has already declared him an absconding criminal.
According to officials, Rather was also involved in logistics, funding and conspiracy for suicide terrorist Dr. Umar-un-Nabi. Officials allege that Rather had carried out the entire conspiracy from abroad after leaving India.
The encrypted messages and messages intercepted by the investigating agencies show that all this was being run from some bases in Afghanistan. According to officials, Omar carried out the suicide attack with the support of Rather and Afghanistan-based handlers. Rather played a particularly important role in coordination and funding.
They said Rather remained in constant touch with the terrorists and provided help from handlers hidden in Afghanistan regarding bomb making and other preparations including methods of carrying out the attack. Rather left India in August last year and just before the Delhi blasts, he went to Dubai and then hid in Afghanistan.
Traveled to Türkiye with Dr. Omar
In 2021, Rather traveled to Türkiye with Muzammil Ahmed Ganai and Dr. Omar. During this time, he came in contact with his handler and tried to go to Afghanistan. Although, he could not go to Afghanistan at that time, but according to the officials, this trip is considered a part of this conspiracy. Rather, Omar and Ganai, working at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, started collecting explosive material after the trip. An investigation by the Srinagar Police led to Ganai's arrest and the seizure of a cache of explosives, and Omar, in panic, detonated a "pre-emptive" blast outside the Red Fort.
