The winter holidays of all government and private schools falling in the summer zone have been extended till January 14, 2026.
Jagran correspondent, Jammu. Amidst the outbreak of cold in Jammu division, the Directorate of Education Jammu has extended the winter holidays by two days. The closures which were closed till Monday 12th January will now open on 14th January and children and their parents have also felt relieved by this order of the Directorate of Education.
An order to extend the holidays was issued by the Directorate of Education on Sunday. In this order issued by the Director of Education Dr. Naseem Javed Chaudhary, it has been said that in view of the bad weather conditions, the winter holidays of all government and private schools falling in the summer zone have been extended till January 14, 2026.
Asked to ensure compliance with orders
The Director of Education has also instructed the concerned officers to ensure strict compliance with the order. The Directorate of Education had announced holidays in the summer zone of Jammu division in a phased manner from December 22. According to the order, winter holidays were imposed in schools from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026 for pre-primary, from December 26 to January 10 for classes VI to VIII and from December 29 to January 10 for classes IX to XII.
During the winter holidays, the cold started increasing in the Jammu division, due to which the parents also started demanding extension of the holidays. Considering the way the cold is increasing in the Jammu division for the last few days, it is not easy for the children to reach school in the morning.
Education Director Dr. Naseem Javed Chaudhary says that this order will be strictly enforced. If any school does not follow this order, strict action will be taken against it.
