PTI, Aizawl. To promote Hindi, Mizoram government is going to take initiative to start Hindi speaking day in all schools. School Education Minister Wanlalthlana on Tuesday said Hindi Bolchal Diwas will be celebrated in all schools once a month under the supervision of the state school education department, in which students and teachers will be asked to speak or converse in Hindi.

He said this step has been taken to increase proficiency in speaking Hindi in the state, especially among students. Hindi is used very less in Mizoram because there are less Hindi speaking people here. Mizo and English are the official languages of the state.

Wanlalthlana said proficiency in Hindi is becoming increasingly important for students who are looking for jobs in other parts of the country.

He said Hindi teachers would be trained so that their students could speak Hindi fluently, and those who did not speak Hindi would be given special training. Hindi books will be prepared by the State Council of Educational Research and Training.
