Digital Desk, New Delhi. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed deep grief over the massive fire in Arpora. 23 people died in this fire. He has described this incident as very sad for the state.

CM Sawant expressed his condolences to the bereaved families on the occasion. He wrote, "Today is a very sad day for all of us in Goa. 23 people have lost their lives in a major fire incident in Arpora. I am deeply saddened and express my heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families in this hour of unbearable loss."

Any negligence will be dealt with strictly - CM Pramod Sawant

He said, "I have visited the site of the incident and have ordered an inquiry into the incident. The investigation will find out the exact cause of the fire and whether fire safety norms and building codes were followed. Those found guilty will be taken to the strictest possible action under the law. Any negligence will be dealt with strictly."

Earlier, during a visit to the incident site, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant termed it an unfortunate incident and said strict action would be taken.

He said, "This incident is very unfortunate for a tourist state like Goa. People who run such things illegally and a fire incident took place, 23 people lost their lives, the government will investigate this incident. The investigation will find out the exact cause of the fire, and those found guilty will be taken the strictest action under the law.

Information about fire was received at 12.04 pm

Goa DGP Alok Kumar said the police received the alert shortly after midnight. "An unfortunate incident occurred at a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora. At 12.04 am, the police control room received information about a fire, and police, fire brigade and ambulance were sent to the spot.

The fire is now under control, and all the bodies have been recovered. The total death toll is 23. “The police will investigate the cause of this incident, and we will take action based on the outcome of the investigation.”

23 people died in Goa's night club

At least 23 people died in a fire that broke out at a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora on Sunday, according to officials. News of the fire was received around midnight and emergency teams immediately reached the spot. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while officials tried to bring the situation under control throughout the night.

Officials have started investigating the details of the cause of the fire. Officials said that efforts are underway to provide medical help to the injured and support to the families of those who died.
