Vinay Chaubey Admitted On Remand That He Bought A Plot And Gifted It To His Father-in-law, ACB Still Dissatisfied.

State Bureau, Ranchi. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which is investigating the case of acquiring disproportionate assets under the Anti-Corruption Act, has taken former Principal Secretary of the Excise and Prohibition Department, suspended IAS officer Vinay Kumar Choubey, on remand.

ACB interrogated Choubey on remand for the second day also. ACB also asked him about the 20 decimal land in Ashok Nagar of Argora, which Vinay Chaubey had bought for Rs 3 crore and gifted to his father-in-law Satyendra Nath Trivedi.

During the interrogation of ACB, Chaubey admitted that he had purchased the said land and gifted it to his father-in-law. ACB asked where the money for this came from, to which Choubey said that some was from his savings, some was from his relatives and he had purchased the said land.

ACB is not satisfied with the information given through Vinay Chaubey on the source of money. ACB has also taken information from Chaubey about his immovable properties located in Noida, Ranchi and Patna, which has also been verified by Vinay Chaubey's chartered accountants Upendra Sharma and Dhananjay Kumar.

It is noteworthy that ACB had registered an FIR on 24 November 2025 in ACB police station Ranchi in the case of acquiring disproportionate assets. In this FIR, apart from suspended IAS officer Vinay Kumar Choubey, his wife Swapna Sanchita, father-in-law SN Trivedi, brother-in-law Shipij Trivedi, Sirhaj Priyanka Trivedi, associate Vinay Singh and Vinay Singh's wife Snigdha Singh have been named accused.

The allegation is that Vinay Choubey misused his position and earned black money on a large scale and invested it in the name of himself and his relatives.

ACB has also received information about investment of black money through shell companies, the verification of which is underway. ACB has also taken statements of many named accused.
