Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has left for Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF). Because of this, talks regarding the mayor have come to a standstill at the moment. After the big victory of Mahayuti alliance, now the suspense regarding the post of Mayor is increasing.
According to Times of India, the lottery to decide the category of mayor's post is going to be held on January 22. Only after this decision will the election dates be revealed and the process may drag till the end of January.

According to the report, the lottery will be held on January 22. In this it will be decided whether the post of Mayor will be of open category or reserved for SC/ST, OBC or women. After the lottery results are declared, official notification will be issued on the same day or the next day i.e. by January 23. After this, it is necessary to give seven days' notice, so the mayor's election can be held on 29-30 or 30-31 January.
At present, Chief Minister Fadnavis is busy in Davos, hence the talks between BJP and Shinde faction's Shiv Sena in the alliance regarding the post of Mayor are stalled. Fadnavis left for Davos on Sunday and will return on January 24. A final decision on this issue is expected only after his return.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is participating in the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. This meeting is running from 19 to 23 January, in which about 3,000 leaders from more than 130 countries are involved. Fadnavis met the Marathi community as soon as he reached there. He is accompanied by Industries Minister Uday Samant and senior officials.
Fadnavis said that WEF 2026 will play an important role in making Maharashtra a $1 trillion economy. Last year, Maharashtra had signed investment agreements worth Rs 16 lakh crore and this year the target is to attract more investment. The focus is on foreign direct investment (FDI), employment generating industrial projects and interaction with global investors.
