Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Cyber ​​​​thugs cheated a businessman of Harbansh Mohal to the tune of Rs 21.73 lakh on the pretext of earning money sitting at home. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case and started investigation.

Businessman Vinay Gupta, resident of Harbansh Mohal, said that on October 31, 2025, a message came on his mobile from a girl named Anusuiya in the name of work from home. It was told in the message that 60 tasks will have to be completed daily, in return for which there will be good earnings.

On agreeing, a login ID and password was created on a website and a demo task was conducted. After the demo, Rs 800 was transferred to his account, which gave him confidence. On November 1, I transferred Rs 10,000 on the UPI ID given by the fraudsters, in return Rs 15,801 came into my account.

After this, Rs 14.73 lakh was deposited in different accounts by luring profit. When he tried to withdraw the amount, he was told that due to late deposit of security deposit, his credit score had fallen below 100, to correct which another Rs 7 lakh would have to be transferred.

In the hope of getting payment, he transferred another seven lakh rupees on November 8, 2025. Even after this, when the money was not received and he was pressurized to complete new tasks, he felt cheated. Police station in-charge Lalit Kumar said that the help of cyber cell is being taken by filing a report under the IT Act.
