Jagran correspondent, Patna. Out of 3040 PDS shops in the district, 2586 were inspected in the last three months. Of these, irregularities were found in 110 shops. Out of these, clarification was given to 44 shopkeepers while the license of 5 shops was cancelled. An FIR has also been lodged against a shopkeeper. DM Dr. Thiagarajan SM expressed dissatisfaction over this action and directed that strict action should be taken in case of regular checks, raids and irregularities in PDS shops.
Those who do not provide the prescribed quantity of grains to the beneficiaries will not be spared under any circumstances. He directed the sub-divisional officers to report the action taken sub-divisional every week. The DM was holding a review meeting of the District Supply Task Force on Tuesday. In this, the updated progress of food grain lifting and distribution in the district was taken stock of. All SDOs were instructed to monitor timely lifting of food grains in their respective areas and its reaching the beneficiaries.
Instructions to check 1.26 lakh suspicious ration cards
Out of 3,16,323 doubtful ration cards received by the department, 1,89,392 have been processed so far. The remaining 1,26,931 suspicious ration cards were examined at the block level and instructions were given for their immediate execution. The review found that the processing of applications received for ration cards has increased. So far, 18,035 ration cards have been distributed in camp mode.
The DM directed to immediately execute all the remaining applications and distribute them by organizing camps at Panchayat government buildings, community buildings etc. He said that grains should be made available to all new ration card holders on time.
At the same time, 3,716 applications received online for ration card are pending even after the prescribed deadline. 5,823 applications are under process within the deadline. The District Magistrate has asked for expeditious execution of all 9,539 pending applications.
Slowness in e-KYC, salary of five stopped, Form A constituted on one
E-KYC verification of 80.37 percent beneficiaries has been done in the district. While giving instructions to expedite this, the DM has given clarification on stopping the salaries of the supply inspectors of five poorly performing blocks, Phulwari, Sampatchak, Punpun, Dulhinbazar and Paliganj. When e-KYC in Phulwari was only 74.96 percent, the DM directed the current supply inspector to improve within a month.
Also, ADM Supply was directed to prepare Form-A against the previously posted supply inspector and send the report to the government. When e-KYC was found to be 77.12 percent in Sampatchak while food grains distribution was 100 percent, the District Magistrate considered it serious and asked SDO Patna to form an investigation team and submit a report.
