On the foundation day of JMM in Dhanbad on February 4, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had announced to contest the municipal elections strongly and said - the village has been captured, now the city has to be captured. However, municipal elections are not being held on party basis. Despite this, all the parties are fighting with full force.
JMM has made Chandrashekhar Aggarwal its candidate in the Dhanbad Mayor election. He has been the Mayor of Dhanbad between 2015 and 2020. Elections could not be held on time due to Corona. Elections are being held at an interval of six years.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren's visit to Dhanbad amid the municipal elections is also being seen from a political perspective. Because this election is an opportunity for JMM. Till now JMM has not been able to achieve electoral success in urban areas.
