Digital Desk, New Delhi. The leader of a Venezuelan human rights group said on Sunday that 80 political prisoners had been released. "People are being released from prisons across the country," Alfredo Romero, director of the Venezuelan human rights group Foro Penal, posted on Twitter.
Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez said Friday that 626 people had been released from prison, though she did not specify a timeframe for the releases.
Rodriguez said she planned to call UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk on Monday to urge the UN to verify the lists of those released so far.
