Jagran correspondent, Srinagar. The massive fire that broke out at Valley Fresh Cold Chain (Cold Store) in Pulwama in South Kashmir was successfully brought under control on Thursday after a fire fighting operation that lasted for more than 12 hours.

According to fire and emergency department officials, the fire broke out in a single-storey pucca house, which was roofed with GCI sheets and was used to store cardboard apple boxes and plastic crates. Several fire engines and firefighters were sent to the spot to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Officials said a large quantity of cardboard apple boxes and plastic crates were damaged in the incident. The cause of the fire is being ascertained. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Pinglana area of ​​Pulwama, a two-storey pucca residential house was damaged in a fire caused by an electrical short circuit.

Officials said the roof, doors, windows and household items on the first floor were damaged. However, with the timely intervention of fire and emergency services, the fire was brought under control and any loss of life or property was averted.
