Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. There is once again hope of relief for the people of Amritsar who have been suffering from traffic jams, dust and unorganized diversion for a long time due to Loharka Road flyover. MP Gurjit Singh Aujla himself reached the spot late night with a team of officers and engineers and inspected the Loharka flyover.

With this sudden inspection, it is expected that laziness and negligence in construction work will be curbed. During the inspection, MP Aujla discussed the design of the flyover in detail with the officials. He stood in the middle of the road and observed the existing traffic flow for a long time and gave necessary technical suggestions to the engineers as per the ground situation.

He clearly said that the flyover should be such that it does not create traffic jams and accidents in future. He also took the progress report of the construction work and also gave strict instructions to speed up the work.

It is noteworthy that the construction work of Loharka flyover was stalled for a long time. During that time, MP Gurjit Singh Aujla continuously raised this issue and created pressure, after which the project could be started again. Now the design of the flyover has been finalized and construction work is going on with machines.

The MP said that now strict monitoring will be kept on this project and he himself will not shy away from taking to the streets to provide relief to the people. MP Aujla said that Loharka Road flyover is an important part of NHAI's bypass project. People had to face a lot of problems due to work stoppage for a long time.

Traffic problem increased due to wrong diversion

Due to poorly maintained diversion, there was huge traffic jam during peak hours and many times accidents occurred. Due to laying of water pipeline, the roads got damaged and dust spread all around, causing a lot of trouble to the local residents and shopkeepers. After a delay of about two years, the work of the flyover has started again in mid-2025. Now the possibility of connecting it with Gumtala Bypass is also being discussed, which will reduce the traffic pressure in this entire area to a great extent. After the MP reached the spot late in the night and had a direct conversation with the officials, the local people have expressed hope that now the construction work will pick up pace and they will soon get relief from the long standing problem.
