Crisis on security of Belbanwa Hanuman temple
Samvad Sutra, Kuchayakot (Gopalganj). The gruesome theft in Thawe Durga temple has raised serious questions on the security of temples in the entire district. In the same sequence, the security arrangements of Belbanwa Hanuman Temple situated on the side of National Highway-27 of Kuchayakot block has also come into discussion.
The property and donation box here is currently completely dependent on God. This year, on the night of 24th July, an attempt was made to steal by breaking the lock of a donation box kept on the roadside.
Priest injured in scuffle
Due to the wisdom and courage of priest Bharat Pandey, the thief could not succeed in his plan. The priest was injured in the scuffle, yet he caught the thief and handed him over to the police with the help of the local people.
However, despite the recent theft in Thawe temple, police activity in Belbanwa Hanuman temple seems to be negligible. Two donation boxes have been kept in the temple premises. One inside and the other on the side of the National Highway.
No withdrawal of funds yet
The priest informed the officials several times about the amount being filled, but till now the amount has not been withdrawn. There is lack of regular patrolling on temple security and no police team is active. Despite the donation boxes being locked with two locks, there is still a risk of theft.
The priests and people associated with the temple are in panic and the security threat has increased as the cold increases. An attempt was made to contact Circle Officer Mani Bhushan Kumar in this regard, but due to his absence the conversation could not take place.
