Jagran correspondent, Dharamshala. UGC has taken serious cognizance of the death of a Dharamshala College student in Himachal Pradesh due to depression due to alleged torture. At the same time, SC-ST Commission has also called for the report. On the basis of media reports related to incidents of death due to ragging and physical torture, the UGC Anti Ragging Helpline has taken suo motu cognizance. Currently, police investigation is going on in this matter. Meanwhile, UGC has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the incident. UGC has assured that the culprits will not be spared and strict action will be taken against them. The SC ST Commission has also called for a report on this matter. After the matter came to light, the police visited the house of the deceased student on Friday, talked to her relatives and recorded their statements.
Post mortem of the student's body could not be done
After the death of the student, her videos were revealed in the internet media. The post-mortem of the student's body could not be done. The case registered against the professor for ragging and physically assaulting four female students would have taken a different stance after the death of the student. In such a situation, after the death of the student, her post-mortem would have been conducted by the police and the true reasons for her death could have been known.
Now police will proceed on the basis of medical report
After the death of the student, even her post-mortem has not been done, so now the medical report of the investigation will also be taken by the police from the places where the student has been treated for her illness and after that, the reasons due to which this student died will also be known.
Interrogation of four girl students and professor
A professor accused in this case has been granted interim bail till January 12 from the District Sessions Court. The police will now interrogate the professor along with the four girl students who have been accused of ragging in this matter.
