Was the President of Punjab Cricket Association
Inderjit Singh Bindra served as the 23rd President of the BCCI from 1993 to 1996. Bindra was also the President of Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) from 1978 to 2014. In 2015, the PCA Stadium in Mohali was renamed IS Bindra Stadium in tribute to his services as an administrator. Bindra is credited with bringing the ODI World Cup to India in 1987 along with Jagmohan Dalmiya, another former BCCI president.
Due to both of these, BCCI got financial strength. He had a four decade long career as a cricket administrator. It was he who showed BCCI the path to becoming the richest board and played the TV market for Indian cricket. Inderjit Singh Bindra was the special secretary of Giani Zail Singh, the 7th President of India.
