Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has taken a big initiative with the aim of scientifically improving the performance of players and giving data-based direction to the sports world.
The institute has announced the launch of specialized training programs on Sports Technology, Machine Learning and Data Analytics in collaboration with Sports Authority of India and University of Exeter.
This in-person program will be held from March 2 to 6, 2026 and is being considered an important step towards the confluence of sports science and technology in the country.
The five-day training is specially designed for coaches, physios, fitness experts, sports scientists and sports entrepreneurs. Participants will be taught how to accurately assess players' fitness, technique and performance through modern sensors, AI tools and data analysis.
Along with this, subjects like Nutrition, Physiology, Biomechanics, Wearable Technology, Neural System, AR-VR and Applied Data Science have also been included in the curriculum.
During the programme, participants will also get hands-on training in technologies such as motion capture, biomechanical modelling, wireless EMG, neuromuscular assessment and VR-based simulations for direct application in the field.
Training Coordinator Prof. According to Biswaroop Mukherjee, this initiative is not limited to just theoretical knowledge, but focuses on the actual use of technology to improve sports performance. International experts, scientists and trainers from leading sports academies will also take sessions.
The registration process for the program has started and interested participants can apply through the official website of the institute. Experts believe that such efforts will move sports training in India away from traditional methods towards a scientific and technology-based model.
