Eye On Bottles In Gorakhpur, Unaware Of Selling Water In Jars And Tanks

Gorakhpur RO Plant. Awakening

Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. After finding bacteria, yeast and mold in the testing of bottled water, it is certain that even the water in jars and tanks is not safe for health. Even after this, the Food Safety Department is neither investigating nor taking samples. If the department is citing the compulsion of not having provisions, then people are suffering from stomach diseases by drinking dirty water.

More than 15 hundred RO plants have been installed in the district. Their number is also increasing day by day. Registration was made mandatory to keep an eye on RO plant operators in the metropolis. During the tenure of the then Mayor Sitaram Jaiswal, the Executive and House of the Municipal Corporation had passed this arrangement, but till now the registration of RO plant operators has not been done. The Municipal Corporation officials are working so slowly that it does not seem possible to complete this work even after the formation of the next board. Many RO plant operators are selling submersible water. These operators run the plant just for show, they fill submersible water in the tanks and jars. There is no compliance with TDS in this water. People drink it considering it to be pure water and become vulnerable to diseases. Who can say in the metropolis, now the operators of RO plants are delivering water to every home even in the village streets. If the quality of their water is tested then the reality of its purity will come to light.

They do not take care of cleanliness. The tank and jar should be cleaned properly daily but the suppliers do not do so. The same jar goes to multiple homes. When the jar starts looking dirty on top, it is cleaned. The inside is never cleaned. There is a deficiency in water, the amount of magnesium and calcium is less than the standard limit. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is also less than the standard. People are facing the consequences of groundwater pollution. After confirming that contaminated water is coming out from local and government hand pumps, doctors advise people to drink pure water. Big business has come up under the guise of pure water. Due to continuous exploitation of water, the groundwater level is also continuously going down.

Many types of diseases are occurring due to the use of contaminated water. These include stomach ache, diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice, typhoid, allergy, sneezing, cough, itching in the eyes, difficulty in breathing etc. Long-term consumption of contaminated water can cause permanent damage to the kidneys, liver and lungs. This water is dangerous for children, the elderly and those with weak immune systems.
