Jagran correspondent, Moradabad. On Friday, Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called the relatives of BLO Sarvesh Jatav of Bahedi village, who committed suicide during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the voter list, at the SP office in Lucknow and gave a check of Rs 2 lakh as financial assistance. On the advocacy of SP District President Jaiveer Singh Yadav and Kanth MLA Kamal Akhtar, the relatives were called to Lucknow.

During this, Akhilesh Yadav handed over a check of Rs 2 lakh to the wife of the deceased and gave cash assistance of Rs 11,000 each to his two daughters. The SP chief assured the relatives of the deceased that the party will provide all possible help to them in future also. Samajwadi Party had raised the issue of suicide of BLO Sarvesh Jatav from Parliament to Assembly.

Despite this, the victim's family could not get any concrete government assistance from any level. BLO's relatives allege that Sarvesh Jatav was under constant pressure regarding the work of SIR Farm. They were being threatened that if the work was not completed, action would be taken and they could even be jailed. Under this mental stress, he took suicidal steps.

The relatives demanded from the government that one member of the family should be given a government job, a compensation of Rs 2 crore should be given and strict action should be taken against the officials who exerted pressure. On this occasion, many SP leaders including State President Shyam Lal Pal, District General Secretary Furkan Ali, District Vice President Vedprakash Saini, Chandan Singh Raidas and Mahavir Singh Maurya were present.
