Ayodhya's Vasu Tiwari Shines In Special Olympics Snowshoeing In Italy, Honored In Lucknow

State Bureau, Lucknow. Vasu Tiwari, a 32-year-old disabled player from Ayodhya, had made the country and the state proud at the international level by performing brilliantly in the Special Olympics.

In March 2025, in the Special Olympics Snowshoeing Competition held in Turin city of Italy, Vasu proved his talent by winning gold medal in 50 meter race and silver medal in 25 meter race.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have already honored Vasu for this achievement in the Parliament House. On Sunday, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Class Welfare and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Narendra Kashyap honored him by presenting him a medal at his residence in Lucknow.

The minister praised Vasu's courage, discipline and hard work and said that he is an inspiration for disabled players. Assuring all possible cooperation, he also talked about meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath soon.

According to Vasu, his training took place in Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh. Jeevan Dhara Rehabilitation Center, Bareilly and coaches Akash Saxena and Shiva had important contributions in the success.
