In the cough syrup smuggling case worth Rs 2,000 crore, the SIT of the Commissionerate Police and the Kotwali police arrested five accused including three criminals carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 each from Bhorsar Link Road, Mirzapur on Saturday evening. A total of 46 foreign currencies of Nepali, Thailand and Dirham (55 thousand rupees in Indian currency) and an iPhone were recovered from the arrested criminals.
The accused admitted their involvement in cough syrup smuggling and admitted earning Rs 40 crore from hawala and their share of Rs 8 crore in it. DCP Gaurav Banswal and ACP Vijay Pratap Singh patted the backs of SIT and Kotwali police.
Chairman of SIT and Deputy Commissioner of Police of Kashi Zone said that the arrested accused include Amit Jaiswal, resident of Kazipura Khurd Sigra, Divesh Jaiswal, resident of Khojwan Bazar Bhelupur, Ankush Singh (all carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 each), Ghanshyam and Abhinav Kumar of Nawabganj Chhittpur Bhelupur. The five accused fled to different states after the incident, and by the time they tried to flee abroad, the police had issued a look out notice.
On hearing about this, the relatives of Amit, Divesh and Ankush filed a bail application in Prayagraj High Court, in which the accused wanted to reach the hearing to be held on January 9, but were caught. Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the arrested accused admitted to buying and selling 25 lakh vials of codeine cough syrup through various medical firms for intoxicant use through Shaili Traders of Ranchi Jharkhand through fake and forged GST invoices/e-way bills.
Told that Jaunpur's Vikas Singh, Amit Singh Tata, Prashant Upadhyay, Akash Pathak, Gaurav Jaiswal, Manoj Yadav used to hold KBN Plaza meetings with Shubham Jaiswal. There, decisions were taken about converting the money earned from smuggling into money and distributing it. The police team included inspector in-charge Dayashankar Singh, SIT inspector Vikas Pandey, Ankit Singh, Manish Singh, Dheeraj Singh, Lovelesh Patel etc.

Tripura, West Bengal and Bihar police had issued notice after finding flaws. The arrested accused told that Tripura, West Bengal and Bihar police had issued notice to them on the suspicion of irregularities in the batch of cough syrup, but Shivam had managed everything. Informed that the goods meant for our firms were also delivered to Bangladesh, Tripura, West Bengal.
In the fourth layer, the money used to reach Shubham. Firms were created with fake documents, in which Shubham Jaiswal and Prashant Upadhyay together used to get the money transferred through RTGS from people like Dinesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav, Swapnil Kesari etc. The money received from dummy firm RTGS was transferred to other firms and then the same money was sent to Shubham Jaiswal by those firms.
