Face authentication of all candidates will be done at the examination centers

Digital Desk, New Delhi. All candidates appearing in the recruitment examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be subjected to face authentication at the examination centres. That means their identity will be verified through face. Officials said on Saturday that this will further strengthen the sanctity of the examination process.

The note released on the Commission's website said, facial authentication of all the candidates appearing in the UPSC examination will be done at the examination centre. UPSC conducts various recruitment examinations for government jobs, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) examinations.

Pilot program was conducted

UPSC had conducted a pilot program to test Artificial Intelligence-(AI) enabled face authentication technology for quick and secure candidate verification during NDA (National Defense Academy) and NA (Naval Academy) II Examination, 2025 and CDS (Combined Defense Services) II Examination, 2025 held on September 14, 2025.

This pilot program was conducted at selected centers in Gurugram, where the faces of the candidates were digitally matched with the photographs provided in their registration forms. UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar said the new system reduced the verification time for each candidate to an average of just eight to 10 seconds, significantly simplifying the admission process.
