Former MLA Haji Abdul Samad Ansari termed 'Vote Jihad' allegations as baseless.
Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. Former MLA from City North Assembly Constituency Haji Abdul Samad Ansari has written a letter to the District Magistrate/District Election Officer Varanasi requesting not to take any further action on the basis of investigation conducted in a case.
He has mentioned in his letter that a few days ago, a demand for investigation into the matter was made by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and Minister Ravindra Jaiswal. After this, based on the facts circulated on social media, investigation was conducted by the Assistant Election Officer (City North).
According to the available information, the allegations made in the investigation report have been found to be baseless and beyond the facts. The report made it clear that no concrete evidence was found to support the allegations. Haji Abdul Samad Ansari has requested the administration that when the allegations have been found untrue in the investigation, then unnecessary further action should not be taken in this matter. He said that unnecessary action could affect the environment of the area.
The former MLA has appealed to the administration to exercise restraint and maintain peace and law and order, so that a harmonious environment is maintained in the area. He said that such wild allegations not only harm his image but can also create tension in the society.
Samad Ansari also said that it is not appropriate to make such allegations due to political rivalry. He has expected the administration to work impartially and not take decisions under any kind of political pressure. He also said that the atmosphere of Varanasi has always been one of brotherhood and harmony, and it is everyone's responsibility to maintain it.
Through this letter, the former MLA has clarified that he is not opposing any kind of investigation or action, but when the allegations have been proved baseless in the investigation, then there is no justification for further action. He also told the administration that if any action is taken, it may lead to unrest in the area, which is not acceptable under any circumstances. Haji Abdul Samad Ansari has appealed to the administration to take this matter seriously and take appropriate decisions, so that peace and harmony is maintained in Varanasi.
