Lifestyle Desk, New Delhi. Nerves are one of the most sensitive parts of our body. However, even then we pay less attention to their health (Nerve Damage Signs). We often try to protect ourselves from external injury or harm, but many times the root of the problem lies within our body.
Today we are going to talk about 3 such reasons, which can secretly damage our nerves and we do not even realize it. Therefore there is a need to be careful with them. Let us know about these causes (Causes of Nerve Damage).
Diabetes or continuously increased sugar level is the biggest cause of nerve damage, which is called 'diabetic neuropathy' in medical language. When the amount of glucose in the blood increases, it weakens the walls of the small blood vessels that nourish the nerves. Apart from this, increased sugar also starts destroying the protective layer of the nerves. Its common symptoms are- often tingling, burning, numbness or needle pricking sensation in the feet and hands.
Inflammation is an immune response of the body, but when it persists for a long time, it becomes a cause of trouble. Due to bad lifestyle, junk food and stress, the level of cytokines increases in the body. These attack the nerve tissues, causing the nerves to swell and lose their ability to send signals. Therefore, to avoid chronic inflammation, include anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric, ginger, omega-3 fatty acids and green leafy vegetables in your diet.
Vitamin B complex, especially B1, B6 and B12, are essential for nerve health. Vitamin B12 helps in forming the 'myelin' layer over the nerves. If this layer is removed, the nerves start getting damaged. The main reason for Vitamin B deficiency is vegetarian food. Also, due to digestive system problems or some medicines, it may not be absorbed properly. Due to this, problems like muscle weakness, loss of memory and inability to maintain balance start occurring.
